The aim of this draft proposal is to improve and solidify the legislative framework regarding the authorisation processes for authorised economic operators (AEO). The draft proposal will further streamline and clarify the rules regarding mandatory consultations between customs authorities regarding the verification of the fulfilment of the AEO criteria and conditions. In particular, the draft proposal clarifies the cases where the consulted customs authority is obliged to provide a response.
