Amendment to Registry Regulation in response to the ETS revision/Fit For 55 (Batch 2)

Climate action

As part of the 'Fit for 55' package, the ETS Directive has been revised to align it with the new EU target to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 55% (compared to 1990 levels) by 2030. Following this revision, the European Commission needs to update several regulatory acts for the implementation of the ETS. This initiative updates the Registry Regulation to introduce rules on aviation, fees to finance the Union Registry and ETS for buildings and road transport.

Italian Shipowners Urge EU to Cover Registry Costs from ETS Revenues

The association requests that administrative costs for managing the ETS Registry be covered by existing auction revenues rather than imposing new fees on shipping companies. They also ask for seamless account reactivation when ships re-enter the ETS system.
