Corruption has a major impact on the economy and the delivery of public policies to citizens. It also undermines public trust in democratic institutions and can be a way for infiltration by organised crime and a tool for hostile foreign interference. In an effort to ensure the highest possible common standards in the fight against corruption, this Communication will be part of the anti-corruption package as announced in the 2022 State of the Union address.
