The purpose of this regular update to the EU ‘Suspensions Regulation’ is to introduce or remove trade restrictions for certain species of wild plants and animals from particular third countries, based on the mandate and using the criteria set in Regulation 338/97. Such restrictions are adopted or removed after consultation of the countries concerned and on the basis of opinions agreed by the expert group of EU Member States’ CITES Scientific Authorities (Scientific Review Group).
