The initiative aims to respond better to new information needs and user expectations by bringing the existing legal framework for European Statistics in line with the European Data Strategy and modernising how statistics are produced. This will include tapping the potential of new data sources, strengthening the responsiveness, specifying the new roles in the emerging data ecosystems, and updating the tasks of statistical authorities.
