Pursuant to the Treaty, Member States shall notify State aid to the Commission and may not grant aid until it has been authorised. The State aid Guidelines contribute to ensuring coherence, transparency and legal certainty in relation to this State aid control. The current Agricultural Guidelines expire on 31.12.2020 and therefore need to be replaced. In parallel, the review should ensure consistency of the Guidelines with the new legal framework of the Common Agricultural Policy.
