EU rules on harmonised river information services (RIS) sets an interoperability framework for digital information services in the EU inland waterway transport sector. This initiative is included in the sustainable and smart mobility Strategy. It will address identified shortcomings of the current framework, streamline the process of setting technical standards and take into account new developments in digitalisation.
