Mortgage credit – review of EU rules

Banking and financial services

Current EU rules on mortgage credit applies to loans made to consumers for the purpose of buying residential property. The review of such rules will assess how to simplify information disclosure requirements, adapt the present rules to the digital environment and how to further support cross-border activity. It may also look at how to improve consumer protection in case of economic disruptions such as COVID-19 and possibilities to support the up-take of energy efficient mortgages.
