Review of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) activities
Transport
The European Maritime Safety Agency plays a crucial role in ensuring a high and uniform level of maritime safety and pollution prevention in EU waters. The Agency was established in 2002 and its mandate was reviewed extensively in 2013. As policy and political priorities have evolved since its mandate was last amended, there is scope to recalibrate the Agency’s portfolio of activities, as foreseen by the Communication on a sustainable and smart mobility strategy of December 2020.
