The monitoring, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions must be robust, transparent, consistent and accurate for the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) to operate effectively. This initiative aims to update the existing rules before the beginning of phase 4 of the EU ETS (2021), in order to ensure a proper verification of the emissions and other data reported by operators, and accreditation of the verifiers.
