Response to Proposal for a Regulation on Military Mobility

Arcadia eFuels welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the European Commissions initiative on Military Mobility and commends the Commissions ongoing efforts to enhance Europes defense readiness, resilience, and strategic autonomy. The initiative comes at a crucial moment, as Europe faces both accelerating decarbonisation and a steady decline in traditional refinery capacity. Ensuring the long-term availability and security of energy supply for defense and transport operations is therefore an essential element of comprehensive military mobility and Europes collective security. In this context, Arcadia eFuelstogether with other European synthetic aviation fuel producers Zaffra, SkyNRG and Norsk eFuelswishes to draw the Commissions attention to the strategic importance of establishing a robust and scalable European e-fuel production capacity. Synthetic and sustainable fuels can play a key role in ensuring that Europes armed forces have a secure, flexible, and resilient energy source in times of both peace and crisis. Commissions Joint Communication on Military Mobility is an opportunity to assess the impact of energy transition on military mobility and start the discussion on appropriate policy options. To ensure the long-term fuel supply, energy and transport policies need to be integrated as part of the Unions broader security and defense preparedness planning.
