To foment and promoting CHP (combined heat and power generation) at all the Spanish territories and elsewhere necessary defending interest of existing facilities and promoting the erection of new plants, based in the essential characteristics of this technology - High Energy Efficiency - Primary Energy Saving - Electricity distributed generation - Emission reduction that justify the key contribution of this generation system to the security of supply and to sustainable development.

Response to Revision of the Energy Tax Directive

SPANISH COGENERATION ASSOCIATION (ACOGEN) contribution to Commission’s Inception Impact Assessment related to Energy taxation Directive. ACOGEN asks the Commission to take into account the following elements: • Keep preferential treatment and attention to High Efficiency Combined Heat and Power (HE CHP) generation: to enhance the energy efficiency and GHG emission reduction UE targets as well as the competitiveness and resiliency of CHP related heat intensive industries and services. • Full exemption for High Efficiency Combined Heat and Power (HE CHP): to enforce o a full exemption of general energy consumption taxation – energy products and electricity- for High efficiency Combined Heat and Power (HE CHP) o a full exemption in the level of taxation to electricity produced by High efficiency Combined Heat and Power (HE CHP).
