Response to Cloud and AI Development Act

AtlasEdge welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposals outlined in the EUs Cloud and AI Development Act. The European Commissions ambition to address the critical gap in data centre capacity, both via the introduction of the Act and through the ambitions set out in the AI Continent Action Plan, is timely and the goal of tripling data centre capacity by 2032 at the latest is necessary if the region is to keep pace with international competitors. Delivery of this goal has the potential to deliver significant socio-economic benefits for Europe. As per analysis by the European Data Centre Association, a total of 100 billion is set to be invested in the regions data centre by 2030, yielding 83.8 billion in GDP impact and creating 80,000 jobs. It is also right that the Commission seeks to address this challenge on a regional level, engendering a regional cooperation on policy delivery which reflects the free-flowing nature of data. Such an approach also recognises the fact that a large portion of the data centre industry operates on a regional or global scale. Inter-market alignment on policy, regulation and incentives instils the confidence required to drive investment decisions amongst such businesses.....
