Response to Taxonomy Delegated Acts – amendments to make reporting simpler and more cost-effective for companies

24 Mar 2025

Danske Slagterier SA, which represents the Danish cooperative and private slaughterhouses, welcomes the opportunity to provide comments to the public consultation regarding Taxonomy Delegated Acts amendments to make reporting simpler and more cost-effective for companies. The Danish pigmeat sector supports the Commission´s simplification efforts, which we see as a key element for improving European competitiveness and business environment. Furthermore, clarity and a harmonized implementation of EU-legislation across the EU is also import. Thereby, businesses only have one set of harmonized EU-rules to adhere to. Furthermore, it should be noted that the members of the Danish pigmeat sector have their absolute main activities outside of the taxonomy sectors. Considering the above, the Danish pigmeat sector strongly supports the Commission´s art.1 Amendments to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2021/2178 regarding the permitting companies according to selected financial thresholds to omit reporting of activities within the taxonomy sectors. It would be very administrative and financial burdensome for our members without creating any disclosure value, since the main activities are outside of the sectors of the taxonomy.

Response to Targeted amendment to the CMO and other CAP Regulations strengthening farmers position in the food supply chain

10 Mar 2025

Danske Slagterier SA, which represents cooperative and private slaughterhouses, welcomes the opportunity to provide to the proposal concerning the Strengthening of the position of farmers in the food supply chain. Introductory comments Firstly, we agree that the farmers´ situation is an important topic. This is also why; we regret that no impact assessment was carried out on the proposal. This could have identified potential unintended consequences, incl. to what extend the proposed measures will actually improve the farmers´ situation in the supply chain. Secondly, it is very important that any measures proposed respects the fundamental principles of free formation of prices and the continuous market orientation are maintained. Thirdly, overall approach to address the situation of the farmer should build upon some the focal points outline by this commission, incl. simplification, reduction of administrative burdens and be more assertive in promoting and defending strategically the exports of EU products to important third countries, especially in Asia. These will all contributing to reduce costs, improve revenue and competitiveness of the farmer, which again will facility investments (e.g. to the green transition and a more efficient production) and increase the attractiveness of the sector. Art. 168 of the CMO In relation to the revision of art. 168 of CMO, the proposal introduces mandatory contracts and the aspect of production costs, when calculating the price. We are strongly against these two measures, due to the above- mentioned reasons. Furthermore, when it comes to the question of managing the supply chain, almost every member state has its own system. In Denmark, our system structuring the relationship between slaughterhouses and producers has been establish by the farming community and is centered around a weekly price. This price is market based price, meaning it reflects the price the slaughterhouses can obtain in the market. It should be remembered that the slaughterhouses are price takers not givers. This is another reason, why we find the introduction of mandatory contracts, including the aspect of production costs, very problematic. There is a big risk that such an approach, would be counterproductive and disregard already well-functioning supply chains and leading to additional bureaucracy, incl. also for the farmer. This without being sure that it will actually will improve the situation of the latter. Solution More flexibility is needed to encompass the diversity of supply chains within the EU and to keep well-functioning supply chains. This should be done by keeping the current art. 168 of the CMO as it is.
