Response to Sustainable transport investment plan

4 Sept 2025

Drivkraft Danmark supports the EUs sustainable transport investment plan, stressing risk-sharing tools like double-sided auctions, stable frameworks for SAF/PtX, fair EV charging markets, and faster grid connections. With the right conditions, we can drive climate goals, energy security, and a just green transition. Please see attached for further elaboration.

Response to 2040 Climate Target Plan

21 Jun 2023

The Danish Industry Association for Fuel and Charging (Drivkraft Danmark) welcomes the European Commissions initiative to propose an EU 2040 climate target. Drivkraft Danmark strongly supports and works actively to contribute to achieve the national political goal of climate neutrality in 2045 in Denmark. Equally, we believe that the EU should accelerate the transition to climate neutrality. In order to be on track to meeting national as well as EU climate neutrality targets, we support a very ambitious emission reduction target for 2040 in the area of 90%. This is also in line with the recent recommendations by the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change(1). To achieve EU and national climate targets, all possible solutions must be brought into play. Therefore, legislators must set ambitious, clear, long-term and technology neutral framework conditions pushing producers as well as users towards the most climate friendly energy solutions, rather than focusing on specific technologies or solutions. This way, the market will develop and offer the most efficient, most CO2 reducing and most cost-effective green solutions, which will enable reduction of CO2 emissions as fast as possible. The green transition continues to require new infrastructure for hydrogen and CO2 and faster roll-out of renewable electricity production. This infrastructure is crucial to create a solid base for long-term investments in power-to-x production technology both for the suppliers, end-users and producers of intermediary products. Such innovations and investments must be supported by the right framework conditions, in order to fully accelerate the transition to climate neutrality. These framework conditions could for example consist of a legally binding CO2 emission reduction target for all sectors, with a target of 100% in 2050 at the latest and ambitious sub-targets for 2030 and 2040. As another example, we fully support the ETS scheme and believe it should cover all use of fossil fuels and include also sectors not currently covered by the scheme. Likewise, the CBAM should be extended to all ETS products. As of right now, the CBAM does not include refineries, and this is detrimental to their ability to compete on the EU market with their non-EU competitors not subject to the same CO2 taxes.
