Response to Review report on the Governance Regulation of the Energy Union and Climate Action

We welcome the opportunity to provide evidence to the assessment of the performance of the Governance Regulation (1999/2018). Ecologic Institute has developed a body of research on climate governance frameworks since 2015. A team of researchers have been analysing a range of different specific climate governance mechanisms at both national and EU level. We submit the list of relevant publications in the form of an annotated bibliography in the attachment. We also provide a summary of our assessment of the state of EU climate governance and the Governance Regulation, including a specific list of existing deficits, ending with recommendations for options to explore in the further development of the Regulation. Our input here is based on the assessments undertaken.
