European Farm Animal Breeders (EFFAB) welcomes the European Commission's invitation to provide input for the call for evidence for the impact assessment on modernising Animal Welfare Legislation. Our members are committed to collaborating with policymakers to ensure food security and safety, improve animal health and welfare, and address the three pillars of sustainability through modern animal breeding.

Thank you for the opportunity to contribute. You will find attached the contribution of European Animal Breeders of EFFAB. Breeding animals and their genetic material play an important role in ensuring high levels of animal health and welfare; through their special health status and through balanced breeding programs in which resistance to animal diseases, robustness and other health-related traits.
