Response to Achieving the European Education Area

The German Education Union (Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft, GEW) supports the position of the European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) on "Achieving the European Education Area”. In adddition, GEW would like to highlight that quality and inclusive education for all learners must take into account the different dimensions: The characteristics of gender, age, disability, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, social origin must be addressed in education policies, each with its own policies to address them and to ensure that they do not lead to discrimination, but they are also interrelated (intersectionality), so that comprehensive, inclusive social and educational policies are needed to achieve quality and inclusive education for all.
