Response to EU industrial maritime strategy

Hapag-Lloyd AG, Transparency Register Number 296016224456-02, would like to submit following proposal regarding the EU industrial maritime strategy. We do concur with various stakeholder opinions expressed about the shortage of approved EU SRR ship recycling facilities. Therefore, we would strongly recommend to address the topic of ship recycling, including the development of "green steel", in the EU industrial maritime strategy. We would be honored if we could contribute to future working groups with our recycling project team.

Response to Prolongation of the Consortia Block Exemption Regulation

Public consultation on the prolongation of the Consortia Block Exemption Regulation (“CBER”) (EC) No. 906/2009 as amended (Ref. HT.5252) Hapag-Lloyd welcomes the “Commission Staff Working Document” which professionally proves that based on a sound consultation and a fact based analysis of the liner shipping industry, the recommendation for an prolongation of the CBER is well justified – or actually recommendable. Regulatory requirements for consortia around the globe are becoming increasingly bureaucratic and burdensome and the same time in-transparent and in-consistent. The EC CBER could well serve as a sample for an instrument that offers the right balance between regulatory oversight and economic operability. It gives clear guidance to economic operators and regulators.
