Response to Union guidelines for the development of the TEN-T network amended proposal

It is extremely important to extend the TEN-T network to Republic of Moldova and to Ukraine. During Connecting Europe Days I had a chance to hear presentations of transport ministers of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia which described the situation in all mentioned countries. I also had the opportunity to talk shortly with Mr. Kubrakov (Ukrainian minister of infrastructure). To ensure the improvement of of especially rail infrastructure for covering higher capacity it is necessary to repair the existing and build the missing part of rail connection (changing gauge from 1520 to 1435 mm on defined core rail corridors from Ukraine to Poland, Slovakia, Moldova and make necessary upgrade of main fright corridors (and main lines connecting them) in Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria in order to increase their capacity. At the same time the as fast as possible facilitation and smoothing administrative procedures and data exchange at border crossings for freight transportation is a need. Also a discussion about the Military mobility of dual use and humanitarian transports has to be opened, especially with Austria. This may open a way how to make the TEN-T network more resilient and resistant to any critical situation which may cause.
