Response to Revision of the Standardisation Regulation

21 Jul 2025

SFS Finnish Standards welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the Call for Evidence on the revision of Regulation 1025/2012 on European Standardisation. SFS is the national standardisation body (NSB) that controls and coordinates all national standardisation work in Finland except for electrotechnical and telecommunications standardisation. As a member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), SFS supports the development of international standards together with our network of experts. SFS asks the European Commission to emphasize the following perspectives when reviewing the regulation: - Coordinating international and European standardisation is essential to Europe's competitiveness. - The relationship between European legislation and standardisation requires clarity and continuity. - Strengthening inclusiveness involves taking specific actions. - Speed in standards development is important, but not at the expense of quality, transparency and trust. - The financial diversity of the standardisation system must be identified and safeguarded. Please see attached document for the full response.
