Response to A strategic vision for sport in Europe: reinforcing the European sport model

5 Dec 2025

SVIA (the Social Vouchers International Association) welcomes the European Commissions ambition to develop a Strategic Vision for Sport in Europe and believes that this vision should present and promote some inspiring policy initiatives implemented in EU Member States that have demonstrated their effectiveness in democratizing access to sport, particularly in the professional environment. It is widely recognised that sport contributes to public health, wellbeing, education, inclusion, European integration, cohesion, the economy, and EU competitiveness. Accessible and inclusive sport is essential for full participation in society. The future European strategy for sport aims to strengthen the European sports model based on three priorities: integrity and values in sport, the sustainable and socio-economic dimension of sport, and participation and health-enhancing through the promotion of physical activity and well-being. In this context, it is important to support innovative mechanisms such as social vouchers that promote access to sport for all low-income households, youth and particularly employees in the workplace, in order to address public health, social cohesion, and economic competitiveness challenges. Sport vouchers fully align with the European strategic vision: - Health and inclusion: They democratize access to sport, especially for populations distant from sports practices. - Socio-economic sustainability: They create a virtuous circle linking employee well-being, business competitiveness, and the vitality of the sports sector. - Governance and values: By relying on local structures (clubs, associations), they strengthen the European sports model based on solidarity and participation. SVIA therefore calls on the European Commission to: - Recognize sport vouchers as a strategic lever for achieving health, inclusion, and social cohesion objectives. - Promote the exchange of best practices from EU Member States where social vouchers have proven effective in democratizing access to sport. - Support their wider adoption through targeted incentives to maximize their impact across Europe.

Response to Quality Jobs Roadmap

29 Jul 2025

SVIA (the Social Vouchers International Association) welcomes the preparation of the upcoming EU Quality Jobs Roadmap, and believes that the EU Quality Jobs Roadmap should present and promote some inspirational policy initiatives in EU Member States which have demonstrated their efficiency in creating quality jobs. In our contribution (in attachment), SVIA gives a series of inspiring initiatives taken by Member States to develop social vouchers with a real impact on job creation as well as on the wellbeing of employees who benefit from those social vouchers. Therefore, SVIA calls on the EU Commission to promote the development of social voucher programs in EU countries as key levers to create quality jobs in specific sectors (Hospitality and Restaurant, Personal and Household Services, Tourism) while improving the wellbeing of employees who benefit from these Social Vouchers.
