Response to Evaluation of the Cosmetic Products Regulation

21 Mar 2025

Preserving Success While Embracing Improvements. The EU Cosmetic Products Regulation (EU CPR) is widely regarded as the global gold standard for cosmetic product safety, ensuring consumer protection while allowing industry innovation. CTPA strongly supports maintaining its science and risk -based approach, which provides clear compliance requirements, fosters market competitiveness, and facilitates international trade. However, emerging challenges would benefit from targeted refinements. The rise of digital markets demands greater flexibility in consumer communication while ensuring online safety. Supply chain complexities, influenced by global events, necessitate adjustments to account for diversified sourcing and distribution models. Additionally, increasing regulatory reporting requirements must drive efficiency, ensuring the provision of information is proportionate. CTPA welcomes the EU Commissions review of the EU CPR and encourages a balanced approachpreserving its robust safety standards while making strategic updates to ensure the regulation remains fit for purpose in a rapidly evolving market.
