Response to European Democracy Shield

We strongly support the European Commissions European Democracy Shield initiative, which aims to address growing threats to democracy. We emphasize the crucial role of higher education and research in strengthening democratic resilience, political trust, and civic participation across Europe. Our recommendations includes developing innovative models for political participation, enhancing economic security and welfare, countering disinformation and fostering critical thinking, promoting youth engagement and resilience and supporting research and education in these, among other areas.
