Response to Evaluation of EU cooperation with Armenia

VEON is an Amsterdam-headquartered, publicly-traded (Euronext Amsterdam and Nasdaq) group of companies, providing telecom and internet services to more than 235 million customers in 12 countries in Europe, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and Central as well as South Asia. VEON has been present in Armenia since 2006 through its investment in VEON Armenia. This company is currently one of the leading communication and internet service providers in the country, serving nearly one million customers there every day. We welcome the evaluation of the European Union's co-operation with Armenia. We would like to suggest that targeted consultations also include EU and international investors into the Armenian economy, and take into consideration the development of a digital economy. VEON would be happy to participate in the event these dialogues take place.

Response to Request for a mandate for a comprehensive agreement with the Republic of Uzbekistan

VEON is an Amsterdam-headquartered, publicly-traded (Euronext Amsterdam and Nasdaq) group of companies, providing telecom and internet services to more than 235 million customers in 12 countries in Europe, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and Central as well as South Asia. VEON has been present in Uzbekistan since 2006 through its investment in Unitel LLC. This company is currently the leading mobile operator in the country, providing services to over 9,5 million customers there. We welcome the enhanced engagement between the EU and Uzbekistan, and the EU's intention to further strengthen the relationship. We support the Commission's positive assessment of recent developments of Uzbek efforts to reform the country and improve regional and international cooperation. With regard to the aim of the initiative, we would like to suggest for a specific objective for the updated relationship to be added to the existing four: “Ensuring protection of EU/international investments into Uzbekistan and further improving the business environment.” In addition, we would like to suggest that targeted consultations and related discussions on the enhanced relationship also include the private sector, in particular EU and international investors into the Uzbek - and the broader Central Asian - economy. VEON would like to express its keen interest to participate in case these dialogues take place.

Response to Ex-post evaluation of Macro-Financial Assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic

VEON has been present in Kyrgyzstan since 2010 through its investment in Sky Mobile LLC. This company is currently the leading mobile operator in the country, providing services to nearly 3 million customers there. We welcome the evaluation on the impact and added value of the Macro-Financial Assistance operation. We would like to suggest that targeted consultations also include EU and international investors into the Kyrgyz economy. VEON would be happy to participate in the event these dialogues take place.
