Our customers make our small businesses live thanks to their purchases. They expect the same level of safety from all ceramics, whether “industrial” or “craft”: introducing doubt in the level of safety legally required will kill our small businesses because customers wouldn’t purchase a ceramic FCM that can only be safely used occasionally by non-pregnant adults (as some previous feedback suggests). Hence while the small businesses specifics must be accounted for, only the MEANS to achieve the expected level of safety shall differ between small and large businesses.
Therefore I fully support the Commission decision to reconsider the current FCM regulations, because as a one-man ceramic art business I agree with your analysis that they are financially and practically impossible to meet in full for very small businesses.
Please find in the attachment some practical suggestions to meet some of the objectives you have set.
