Journalists and other media actors are increasingly facing threats and attacks (physical and online) across the EU. While the COVID-19 pandemic has further underlined the key role of the media and of fact-checked information in our democratic societies, it also exacerbated the threats and limitations impacting journalists’ professional activities. The Commission will issue a recommendation to set out a targeted approach to counter the most worrying trends identified recently in the EU.
