The two Regulations that exempt certain research and development and specialisation agreements from the EU competition rules will expire on 31 December 2022. The Commission will use the evaluation to decide whether to let the Regulations lapse, to prolong their duration or to adopt revised Regulation(s) (including revised Commission guidelines on the interpretation of the Regulation(s)) in which latter case the evaluation will be followed by an impact assessment.
