Safety requirements to be met by European standards for certain children products (excluding toys)

Consumers

References of European standards that comply with the general safety requirement of Directive 2001/95/EC (GPSD) and are published in the EU Official Journal, provide a presumption of safety for products complying with them. The current standards for childcare articles other than toys are based on a mandate from 1997 that is outdated. The EC intends to update these requirements. The Decision would be the basis for the request to the standardisation bodies to prepare new and/or updated standards.
