La CIA è un’associazione autonoma, democratica ed indipendente che afferma la centralità dell’impresa agricola singola ed associata, promuove la crescita culturale, morale, civile ed economica degli agricoltori e di tutti coloro che operano nel mondo rurale. La CIA persegue la realizzazione dei valori che attengono all'impresa agricola, alla democrazia economica, alla libera iniziativa imprenditoriale, al lavoro, all’ambiente rurale, alla solidarietà ed alla cooperazione, alla valorizzazione dell’ambiente e del territorio. La CIA agisce per l’unità degli agricoltori e delle organizzazioni di rappresentanza dell’agricoltura italiana e per la ricerca di convergenze con tutti i settori economici e sociali con particolare riferimento alle piccole e medie imprese. La CIA si impegna a realizzare nella società e nell’economia le pari opportunità tra donne e uomini e a promuovere l’inserimento dei giovani ed il ricambio generazionale nelle imprese e nei sistemi agricoli territoriali
