SAK urges EU laws to manage workplace psychosocial risks

Message — SAK calls for "European LEGISLATION in order to better manage psychosocial risk factors at work." They argue that "legislative action that creates minimum standards for European workers" is necessary. They advocate "holding employers accountable for risks" instead of individual responsibility.123

Response to Collective bargaining agreements for self-employed – scope of application EU competition rules

The Central Organisation of the Finnish Trade Unions SAK adheres to the analysis of the European Trade Union Confederation. However, from the point of view of the Finnish labour market legislation it is to be highlighted that the reform of competition rules must not lead in practice to establishing a third legal category between employment relationship and entrepreneurship. It would mean creation of second-class labour law that would be abused by pushing employment relations into this less protected category. This would contradict sharply with the EU's fundamental social policy principles, i.e. with the social market economy (Article 3 TEU), adequate social protection within all the activities of the EU (Article 9 TFEU), the objective of improved working conditions (Article 151 TFEU), and finally with the right to fair and just working conditions that respect the worker's dignity (Article 31 CFREU).
