EU Competition law – revision of the market definition notice

Competition

Market definition is a tool used in EU competition law to help identify the boundaries of competition between firms. The Commission explained its approach to defining the relevant product and geographic markets in its 1997 notice. Following the results of the evaluation, the Commission will now update this notice to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date. It will also set out a clear, consistent and accessible approach to market definition in competition cases (antitrust/merger) across industries.
