Most citizens in the EU cannot access and share their health data across borders which can hamper medical treatment. It can mean, for example, that medical tests which have already been carried out have to be repeated by another health professional. The Commission will adopt a recommendation on the interoperability of health records to facilitate cross-border safe access and sharing of health data from different records across the EU, by citizens, health professionals or other authorised parties
