Update of the food safety criterion regarding Listeria monocytogenes in ready-to-eat foods

The proposed act intends to align EU rules with international standards of the Codex alimentarius as regards the acceptable level of contamination by Listeria monocytogenes of certain categories of ready-to eat food sold on the EU market. The main objective is to ensure a higher protection of consumers’ health while facilitating official controls by competent authorities in Member States.
