Response to Single Market Strategy 2025

Cellular Agriculture Europe welcomes the opportunity to submit a contribution to the call for evidence on the European Commissions Single Market Strategy 2025. We fully support the need to work towards a more integrated single market with less restrictions and institutional barriers, as a pathway towards strengthening EUs competitiveness. This was part of the conclusions of the Letta and Draghi report, which can now be partially implemented through proposals such as the EC Single Market Strategy 2025, reducing regulatory barriers affecting the functioning of the single market and the free movement of goods. This is of great importance for the agrifood sector, particularly for those in the novel proteins sphere, as we are dependent on a level playing field for producers, which ultimately influences consumers confidence in the food safety standards depending on the country of origin. Two priority points for the Single Market Strategy 2025 for Cellular Agriculture Europe are ensuring free movement of food goods by removing legislative barriers and a consistent application of existing food safety standards in the EU.
