Response to Update of EU rules on audiovisual media services

The European Video on Demand Coalition believes that the most appropriate course of action, as outlined in the Commission's policy options, is maintaining the status quo (baseline scenario): no change to the AVMSD. We strongly advocate for focusing first on full and proper implementation by Member States and on guidance on how principles need to be implemented. Reopening the Directive would divert essential resources away from investment, innovation, and European content creation.

The increasingly important role that VOD platforms play within the entertainment industry is threatened by the growing risk of piracy.
