Evaluation of Council Regulation (EC) No 734/2008 on the protection of vulnerable marine ecosystems

Pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation (EC) No 734/2008 on the protection of vulnerable marine ecosystems, the Commission submitted to the European Parliament and the Council a report on the implementation of the Regulation and suggested it be amended. The review was postponed pending the review of the bottom fishing measures at the UN in November 2016. The evaluation will assess the effectiveness of the Regulation and whether an amendment or new regulation is required.

Sciaena demands strict protection for high seas marine ecosystems
