Digitalisation of justice in the European Union

Justice and fundamental rights

The experience with the COVID-19 crisis shows the need for functioning justice systems under challenging circumstances. Currently, effective access to justice in the EU is hampered by the time consumed in paper exchanges. Digital technologies have great potential to improve the efficiency of justice systems. The initiative will provide a “toolbox” of measures to boost the digitalisation of justice, including possible legislative, funding and practical IT tools.
