Driving licence legislation ex-post evaluation
Transport
The Commission will carry out an ex-post evaluation of EU legislation on driving licences. The current Directive on driving licences was adopted in 2006 to improve road safety, to facilitate the freedom of movement for citizens and to reduce the possibility of fraud. It introduced mainly a standard format for all driving licences issued in the EU and harmonised administrative validity periods. This evaluation aims at assessing how well the Directive has performed since its adoption.
