Extension of the list of EU crimes to hate speech and hate crime

Justice and fundamental rights

The Commission will present an initiative to extend the list of ‘EU crimes’ to hate speech and hate crime. It will aim to bring forward a Council decision identifying hate speech and hate crime as other areas of crime, given that they are particularly serious crimes with a cross-border dimension and that there are developments in crime justifying their inclusion in this list.
