Energy

The decarbonisation of the EU’s electricity system is making steady progress. Nevertheless, electricity represents less than a quarter of final energy consumption. To achieve the EU’s decarbonisation targets, reinforce system efficiency and bring the benefits of renewables to consumers, more energy demand needs to switch from fossil fuels to electricity. The EU Electrification Action Plan will build on the adopted legislation and the Action Plan for Affordable Energy to address the key barriers to and promote electrification of demand.
