The Directive on the train drivers aims at facilitating the mobility of train drivers across EU & among railway companies by setting minimum requirements in a harmonized certification scheme. The evaluation pointed to shortcomings which this initiative seeks to address, introducing a certification scheme that is future-proof, keeping up with technological progress & increased demand for international journeys and making the train driver profession more diverse & attractive for younger generation
