Updating Member State emissions reduction targets (Effort Sharing Regulation) in line with the 2030 climate target plan

Climate action

To prepare the transition to economy-wide climate neutrality by 2050, the Commission proposed to scale up greenhouse gas emission reductions for 2030 to at least 55% compared with 1990 levels. To deliver this ambition, the Commission will review all relevant policies. This includes the Regulation on binding annual greenhouse gas emission reductions by Member States from 2021 to 2030 (Effort Sharing Regulation).
