Review of the CO2 emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles

Climate action

Road transport has a key role in reaching the European Green Deal objectives, including the increased greenhouse gas reduction target of at least 55% by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050. The current EU framework on setting CO2 emission standards for new heavy-duty vehicles is a key policy to reduce CO2 emissions from such vehicles. As announced in the smart and sustainable mobility strategy, the Commission will review this legislation to support the transition towards zero-emission mobility.
