They want political priority-setting that preserves market-driven standardisation and stakeholder involvement. They oppose alternative approaches like implementing acts that could replace voluntary standards.
This would reduce bureaucratic delays and justify their investment of scarce expert resources.
The Commission loses detailed control over technical content and verification of standards.
